Last Minute Gift Ideas

Still looking for the perfect gifts? Or just simply let time get away from you? We have all been there. This time of year can get pretty hectic, so to help you out we have put together some last minute gift ideas based on items we are sure you and your friends and family will love just as much as we do.

For children: Sushi Slicing Play Set by Melissa & Doug

£19 at After Noah/$19.99 on Melissaanddoug.com

Who doesn’t love play food? This selection of wooden nigiri and maki comes in an adorable black and red bento box, complete with wooden wasabi, felt ginger, a small soy sauce, wooden knife, and chopsticks. The sushi pieces and chopsticks have areas of Velcro to make them easy to pick up and to add a satisfying cutting function when slicing the rolls. Great for the kid who likes to know what the grown ups are eating and for introducing children to different cuisines and cultures.

For the foodie: The Medieval Cookbook by Maggie Black

paperback £9.35 at Amazon.co.uk/ hardcover $17.49 at Amazon.com

This is perfect for the foodie who loves to try new, or in this case rather old, recipes. With sections such as Courtly and Christmas Feasting and The Court of Richard II and featuring recipes for “A grete pye”, fig pastries, almond milk pudding, and even a medieval lasagne, it is sure to impress and entertain. The book goes beyond your standard cookbook, giving insight on the role food played in daily life, literature, and the royal court. There is even a section on medieval medicine. This is a definite must have for any foodie or history buff.

For the socialite: Pumpkin 24K Gold Mask by Too Cool for School or Sake Facial Essence Mask by Mitomo

Pumpkin 24k gold mask; £8.50 at Boots/$8 at Sephora
Sake facial essence mask; pack of 6 for £12.99 on Mitomo.co.uk/$7.20 on Mitomos.com

Going out to parties and events can really take a toll on the skin, especially during the winter with the indoor heating and harsh cold weather along with the wine and rich foods. After all that, who doesn’t need a bit of a refresh and reset? The Pumpkin 24K Gold mask is the most requested face mask by many of our fellow party goers, especially when we go to Seoul. Good news is you can pick them up at Sephora and Boots. Another mask that is great for pre-party skin prep is the Sake Facial Essence mask from Mitomo. Brightening and refreshing, it is a great option for a little at home spa time for you busiest of friends.

For the adventurer: National Trust Membership

Adult membership £72. Discounts for under 26 at NationalTrust.org

Explore right in your own backyard. From coast to countryside to city, there is so much to see right here in the UK. We all love a holiday abroad but sometimes a weekend away is all you need. Take in a bit of history, explore gorgeous gardens, and enjoy local produce at one of the many farm shops teaming up with historic houses across the country. This is a great gift for that friend or loved one who prefers to get away.

For the gamer: Munchkin

deluxe edition £23.95 at Amazon.co.uk/ $18.64 at Amazon.com

This goofy dungeon crawler style board game is great for a lazy, post Christmas game day with the family or rowdy game night with your friends. Munchkin puts a funny and relatable spin the classic tabletop rpg and mmorpg tropes, making it great for groups with players ranging from hardcore gamer to someone who is just looking for a casual and relaxed experience.

For the grandparents: Fortnum & Mason or Harry & David

Prices vary to fit your budget on Fortnum & Mason and Harry & David

Although we don’t have specific item recommendations for this section, we had to include them. Growing up, Harry & David was the go to place for older relatives who said they did not want anything or for the person who really has everything. Living in London, we have found that Fortnum & Mason fill that same role. We have never given a gift from either that has not gone down a treat, mainly because they are!

For the kitties: Christmas Spectacular Treats for Cats

£3.49 at Lilyskitchen.co.uk

Don’t forget your furry friends during the Christmas season, and our hipster cats absolutely love Lily’s Kitchen. With one picky eater, who has rather fancy taste, and one who loves treats but has reactions to mainstream treats, we have found Lily’s to be a gift to us as well as the kitties. The packaging is also adorable, making us glad to spoil them with their own little Christmas crackers (not all at once of course).
